Welsh Secretary

April May KitchenerI have worked with children and young people with challenging behaviour for almost 30 years. I have taught in a variety of settings, residential special schools, prison, mainstream school and PRUs in England and Wales.

I was a member of the Steering Group for the National Behaviour and Attendance Review (NBAR) and distance education tutor for Open University and University of Leicester.

In 2010 I was awarded a PhD which focused on key stakeholder perspectives why some PRUs are more successful than others, data from the reserach help create a model of charateristics in a successful PRU head teacher.

I am currently the head teacher of the secondary SEBD PRUs in Swansea. I love working in this area of education, every day is a challenge but it is the challenges that drives me every day to do the best I can.
